"Clever" Clive Royce was a defense attorney in Los Angeles. He was British by birth and spoke with a definite accent which he utilized to sound more sophisticated. Like many defense attorneys he was always seeking media attention and high-profile cases. In February 2010 he agreed to represent Jason Jessup pro bono in Jessup's retrial for the murder of Melissa Landy. He figured it was a slam-dunk case that would bring him lots of clients down the road.
