Detective Anderson is a former investigator with the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division, and a former partner of detective Harry Bosch.
Anderson investigated the Beauty Shop Slasher case with Bosch, and later worked as a technical advisor on the television movie and series based on the case. With the money he made as an advisor, he retired from the LAPD and moved to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
He sends Christmas cards to his former partner, inviting him to visit Mexico.
